The Harvard Business Council (HBC) is pleased to announce the remarkable achievements of the Public Works Authority, Ashghal Qatar at the prestigious HBC 2023 International Awards ceremony. This esteemed event, held at the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, marked a historic milestone as the first-ever in-person ceremony outside the USA.
Attended by distinguished organizations and renowned personalities from the MENA region, the event showcased excellence and innovation in the global business community. The HBC 2023 International Awards, a highly competitive cycle that began on 16th January, witnessed an overwhelming response with over 2000 applications from organizations worldwide. Following an intensive evaluation process by the esteemed HBC Jury, only 13 nominees were selected as winners. The Public Works Authority, Ashghal Qatar emerged as a standout performer, earning prestigious recognition in two categories, customer care and supply chain. Additionally, it has been honored with a certificate of excellence for reaching the Diamond level in the HBC Occupational Health & Safety Award and HBC Green Award categories, and the Gold level in the HBC Dealing with COVID-19 Award category during the HBC 2022 International Awards.
Regarding the awards bagged by Ashghal for the 2023 HBC International Awards, the Public Works Authority, Ashghal Qatar secured the Diamond level in the HBC Supply Chain Award and the Gold level in the HBC Customer Care Award. These prestigious recognitions highlight their excellence in supply chain management, emphasizing their commitment to efficiency, innovation, and sustainability. Moreover, it underscores their exceptional dedication to delivering exceptional customer care, ensuring satisfaction and fostering strong relationships with their clients.
Representing the Public Works Authority, Qatar at the HBC Awards night, Eng. Mooza Al-Sowaidi, Head of Doha City Section at the Road Projects Department at Ashghal, commented on the win: “These three international recognitions that Ashghal received from such a prestigious organization as the Harvard Business Council, reiterate the Authority’s commitment to adopt the best practices and demonstrates its excellence in providing world-class quality services, whilst ensuring the society best interest, supporting the local economy and preserving resources as well as safeguarding the local environment.

Ashghal Qatar’s submission in the supply chain category highlighted the effective strategic approach applied by the Public Woks Authority to foster a favourable environment for all parties involved in the projects’ delivery process. In fact, Ashghal is dedicated to nurturing, strengthening, and leveraging its relationships with strategic suppliers. It places a strong emphasis on Supplier Relations Management, implementing a standardized and systematic approach to enhance its rapport with key suppliers. It has invested a lot of efforts into supporting local product and manufacturers.
As for the customer’s care category, Ashghal’s submission demonstrated a focus on customer care and customer satisfaction. In fact, Ashghal has implemented several measures to create lasting value for customers and beneficiaries and has ensured to keep an open channel of communication with all of its stakeholders. As its core activity directly affects residents, Ashghal has appointed public relations officers on all its projects sites to coordinate with them, inform them on project progress and to respond to their comments, requests, and suggestions. This is in addition to distributing posters, surveys and capturing their feedback.
