Inglewood, CA – On October 26, 2018, South Korea’s CBS Television (http://www.cbs.co.kr) broadcasted an interview video about Almighty God Church. From a documentary perspective, it restores what the Almighty God recounted.(Original version: https://youtu.be/bDt5O5vrpWQ and English subtitles version: https://youtu.be/Wcnuk6tb_5w)

The Church of Almighty God has about 4 million members and a complex history. The religious group was founded in the 1990s, has some vague Christian elements (mixed with Taoism), and claims that Christ was reincarnated in a woman from the Chinese province of Henan.

In the documentary with a time of 50 minutes, it introduced the oral interview of the ex-wife of the founder of the Almighty God, “Zhao Weishan.” It introduces the difference between Almighty God and Christianity. It also interviewed the families of many Almighty believers. The video finally reminded the Korean people to reflect on such incidents.

This documentary is not the first time that the Korean media has reported on the Almighty God. In fact, the Almighty God has been receiving attention from many Korean media and religious institutions. On October 10, 2018, the Korean religious media “현대종교” (hdjongkyo.co.kr) reported that the Presbyterian Church of Korea (General Assembly Chairman Hong-Dong-pil, Hyo-Shin) held a 103rd general meeting in September 18-20 at Songwol Church in Incheon. This conference defines the Almighty Church as a heresy.

On September 13, 2018, the Korean National Daily “국민일보” reported on the website of the Korean National Policy Committee on the website (kmib.co.kr), which also clearly stated that the Almighty God does not conform to Christian teachings. It is a heresy.(http://news.kmib.co.kr/article/view.asp?arcid=0012681208

Similar reports have become more frequent in South Korea in recent years, and it is hoped that such news will receive the attention of religious media around the world.

Korea is a country with inclusive religious beliefs. Religious beliefs are highly liberal in Korea. Recently, the Korean media, religious circles and even the masses have expressed great panic about the emergence of heresy. The actions of heresy have affected the normal development of religion in Korea.

At present, Korean authorities have intensified their efforts to crack down on illegal activities like falsification of refugee status. Following the first ruling by Seoul Court last year that hundreds of Almighty believers failed to apply for refugee status. This year, local courts Jeju Island in South Korea have successively sentenced dozens of believers applying for refugee status failed. It is believed that the religious atmosphere in Korea will return to normal.
