Young tech entrepreneur, world traveller, Daniel Rolph hits it big with online magazine

November 20 04:20 2018

In a little more than two years, Daniel Rolph has created a genuine online sensation with his new endeavor, “Auckland Magazine.”

The 29-year-old digital entrepreneur has a background in online tech start-ups, having founded a hugely successful online company that he sold in 2014.

Rolph, who is from Great Britain, came to New Zealand in 2014 for a vacation, but once he my arrived, he fell in love with what he calls “one of the most beautiful destinations in the world,” and never left.

Rolph is more than just a publisher – he’s also an active journalist and photographer traveling the world to find stories and take images of the people he encounters. He recently returned from a trip to Indonesia, where he spent time documenting the indigenous people there.

Auckland Magazine, which covers its namesake city, as well as New Zealand as whole, is one of the fastest growing online digital magazines, with over one million impressions per month already, and its readership continues to increase.

It was created to be a place where readers could come to learn the latest about what’s new in food, events, culture, travel and fashion, all in one location.

Social media has also become a large part in the success of Auckland Magazine, with over 60,000 followers.

As last century’s paper magazines continue their decline and head toward eventual death, online digital magazines are overtaking them. Their ability to deliver rich media, with video, sound, and graphics make them an ideal storytelling format, one that allows an immersive experience for the reader.
