Sechenov University became one of the top Russian universities represented in the QS World University Rankings of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. This ranking includes the best universities in the region that play an important role in promoting sustainable social and economic growth.

The annual QS EECA rankings has been published since 2014. In 2019, the ranking has included 305 best universities from 24 countries. This time Russia was represented by 89 universities.

Sechenov University was ranked the 138th among top universities of Eastern Europe and Central Asia for the first time. The staff with PhD indicator became the strongest point for Sechenov University. According to this criterion, the University is the 50th in the region.

QS EECA rankings assessment is traditionally based on 10 key indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, number of staff members with PhD, citation index, number of papers per faculty, international research network, percentage of international students, percentage of international faculty, web impact. Each criterion supports making overall assessment of the University.

This year the International Research Network indicator has been introduced for the first time. It evaluates only those research partners that meet the minimum threshold of co-authored publications.
